It’s been bothering me that this plant is not what I think it is. I was told it is nan-jiang 南薑, the Chinese name for Galangal, the ingredient used in Thai cooking. But the flower and the aroma don’t seem to resemble the Galangal plant that I know. Instead it seems to me to Zingiber zerumbet (awapuhi) 紅球薑. Now, I have enough to grow an Awapuhi garden.
