It just occurred to me yesterday that sugar mill featured prominently in my past. I spent a high school year in Finch Hatton (Queensland, Australia). Finch Hatton had Cattle Creek Sugar Mill, which sadly closed in 1990. The town’s name Finch Hatton comes from Henry Finch-Hatton, who was related to Denys Finch-Hatton, the dashing hunter played by Robert Redford in “Out of Africa”.
