Can’t believe I’m turning into a bird watcher! Bought a copy of Birds in Taiwan last night. The beautiful bird I spotted by the lake a couple of days ago is actually rather common, a Common Kingfisher (翠鳥）, probably male according to the guide as it didn’t have red under its’ beak.
