It has been raining the past couple of days. Perhaps it’s the dampness. I noticed these strange cups, like tiny nests of eggs, on the vegetable patch. For someone who suffers from trypophobia, an aversion to the sight of clusters of small holes or bumps, their sighting gave me instant goosebumps.
The Nidulariaceae are a family of fungi, commonly called bird’s nest fungi. The black seeds are not actually seeds but eggs containing spores.
