Mulled Orange Juice

When it’s cold, my go-to drinks are mulled wine (alcoholic) or Indian chai ( caffeine). I love both but I need a third option without stimulants like caffeine or alcohol.

My neighbour gave me a mix of oranges, tangerines and mandarins (I haven’t figured out how to tell them apart).

What else do it have in the kitchen? Cloves and cinnamon. Dug out some ginger from the garden. I can make a mulled orange juice.


  • 500ml orange juice
  • 3cm in length of ginger (or 6 inches if very young fresh ginger)
  • 3 cloves
  • 3cm in length of cinnamon bark
  • 100ml water

Add ginger, cloves, crushed ginger and cinnamon into water, bring to boil or start to smell the aroma of the spices. Add the orange juice and bring to boil, simmer in low heat for a further 5 minutes and it is ready.
